Advocacy is active year-round in Springfield, Chicago, communities across Illinois, and on Capitol Hill, amplifying the voice of family medicine at every level of government. With an experienced advocacy team and a clear strategic vision, family medicine has earned a respected seat at the table where policy decisions are made. Members stay informed on legislative and regulatory issues shaping primary care while gaining the tools, insights, and connections needed to engage confidently with elected officials and policymakers. Guided by physician leaders through the Government Relations Committee and Legislative Action Team, advocacy efforts are coordinated with our contracted lobbying firm to advance priorities, build lasting bipartisan relationships, and ensure family physicians are heard at every level of government.
The IAFP provides unmatched continuing medical education (CME), developed by family physicians for family physicians. We are the place to go to help you maintain your ABFM MoC and licensure through evidence-based education. We continuously assess our members' needs to provide timely, relevant topics for family physicians. The IAFP has an online CME YouTube channel where videos are free to access, and members receive free CME credit for state-mandated CME. Our CME Committee and experienced staff work with organizations and funders to develop a timely, evidence-based curriculum, with tools for instant implementation in practice.
