How can family physicians and their primary care colleagues pro-actively address Advanced Care Planning during COVID-19?   Dr. Kamell will provide an overview and be joined by Dr. Jaffer for a conversation on end-of-life care planning and opportunities.

•    What concerns and worries have your hospice and palliative care patients and their families/guardians brought to you?
•    What strategies can these patients and their families/guardians use to keep themselves safe?
•    What are some culturally responsive approaches to advanced care planning?

Andrew W. Kamell, MD graduated from Brown University Medical School and completed his family medicine residency at Lancaster (PA) General Hospital.  He took a fellowship in Hospice & Palliative Care at University of New Mexico.  He is a diplomat of ABFM in Hospice & Palliative Medicine and Family Medicine.
His areas of expertise are Cancer Patient Care, Pain/Symptom Management for the Seriously Ill, Palliative Care Education, Patient Communication.  His research interests are Delirium, Glioblastoma Headache, Opioid Use, Misuse & Addiction in the Seriously Ill, Evidence-Based Prescribing of Benzodiazepines in Seriously Ill Patients.   He is affiliated with OSF St. Francis Medical Center (Peoria).
