3. Resident Roundups
Recently, the IAFP Foundation Board
and Health Care Associates Union (HACU) hosted two very successful
social and educational events for Family Medicine
residents in
Illinois
.
The first was held at Papaspiro’s
Greek restaurant in
Chicago
’s near west suburb,
Oak Park
. Over 20 residents
representing 10 residency programs around Chicagoland joined IAFP.
The second followed SIU’s practice
management seminars in
Springfield
, and saw nearly two dozen residents from SIU’s four campuses.
Both events saw an informative
practice management presentation by Joe Wheeler, an experienced
financial advisor with a family physician brother-in-law,
featuring points to keep in mind while we transition from
residents to the workforce.
We hope to host another event this
fall in
Chicago
to coincide with the national AAFP Scientific Assembly.
If you would like a copy of the
presentation slides, if you would like to host a Resident Roundup
at your program (and perhaps invite other nearby FMR programs), or
if you have suggestions for future Resident Roundup topics, we’d
love to hear about them.
