Family Physician of the Year
opens doors at new office Our 2007 IAFP Family Physician
of the Year James P. Valek, MD has been a busy doctor since the IAFP
Awards Banquet back in October 2007.
On June 18th he welcomed the community to his new
Vista Family Medicine practice at 10961 The brand-new 4,000 square foot
office takes over a space once occupied by a windows and doors
retail store. The
waiting room is spacious and inviting; with a wall-mounted fountain,
a bright-colored fish aquarium, and a huge collage showcasing Dr.
Valek’s 2007 IAFP Family Physician of the Year award.
The entire system revolves around the patient, with eight
exam rooms, two procedure rooms, centrally located billing and
support staff and an on-site lab.
The practice is wired with electronic health records, online
appointments, urgent care and Saturday appointments, and electronic
prescription refills. Dr. Valek reports that the
entire renovation experience went extremely well.
His team included a designer, architect and a life coach.
He also received a “small business improvement grant”
from the community which helped offset the costs of improvements to
the building’s façade. Dr.
Valek recently added family physician Sapana Rana, DO to his practice
and the new facility ensures the practice has room to grow in the
