Prescribed to Death campaign launches in Chicago Illinois Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti and Deborah Hersman, President and CEO National Safety Council, headlined the November 9 launch event of a public relations campaign to stop everyday killers. The provocative title, Prescribed to Death, is meant to engage the public to start a conversation with their doctors about opioids (see the "Warn Me" labels) and clear out unused opioid prescriptions and send them to be properly destroyed.
The campaign's call to action for the public are the Opioid: Warn Me labels, for patients to begin the opioid safety conversation with their physicians and medical providers. The National Safety Council will also provide IAFP members with mail-back medication disposal envelopes. For those physicians who would like the free "warn me" labels and/or medication return envelopes to share with patients, you can order at no charge a small supply (25) of each by emailing [email protected]. Click here for a physician information sheet about the "warn me" labels.

You must Pick Your Pace in 2017- AAFP can help! By the end of 2017, you must take action in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) to get paid under Medicare Part B. It's not too late to collect data-submitting as little as one quality measure or one Improvement Activity prevents a negative 4% payment adjustment. Let the AAFP guide you down the MIPS path of MACRA's QPP to help you take action, including the 2017 MIPS Playbook-AAFP's step-by-step guide to taking action in MIPS. It's time to Pick Your Pace in MIPS.
