Family Practice Promotions Toolkit

Welcome to the Family Practice Promotions Toolkit!  The Awards and Promotions committee chose five topics that demonstrate the unique role family physicians play in patients' health in all stages of life.

No one can speak the messages of family medicine better than IAFP members themselves.  How many times have you said, “I wish more people knew more about this…” or, “People need to understand more about…?” Now you have an easy to use tool to get those messages out, to your patients or to your community.  It's hard to find the time to sit down and write a letter to the editor of your local paper about an important health issue.  We've done them all for you.  Just print one out on your letterhead and fill in your contact information.  You can even edit the letter to reflect your style or add important personal insight specific to your community.  A letter from the hometown family physician is much more meaningful to a local paper.

Just click on the topic(s) below that interest you, and you will find a letter to the editor and resources for each topic.  Use the web links to get great patient education information to share with patients. Call up your local radio or television station and offer to discuss a topic of interest for their audience.   Use these tools however works best for you and your community.

Let us know what you did.  Send a quick email to Ginnie Flynn at gflynn@iafp.com to let us know what topics and tools you used and what you think.  Is there another topic you'd like to see next year?  We want to know what you need.
