The IAFP Foundation is a charitable public foundation recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and is thereby able to receive grants and tax-deductible gifts and contributions.

If you wish to restrict your gift, the following programs can be specified:

______Summer Externship Program: This program began in 1990 with just two students. Since then, more than 400 have participated in the program. First-year medical students are matched with a family physician for four weeks during the summer. This early exposure to family medicine is having an impact on the students' choice of specialty and practice location. A third of these externs are going into family practice (that's more than double the national average!) Nearly half of these are practicing in the state of Illinois.

______Tar Wars Program: This is our best way to stop tobacco use before it starts! This program takes an effective, interactive approach to smoking prevention, before most children have tried that first cigarette. The curriculum is free at www.tarwars.org but the Foundation needs your help with the administrative and marketing costs of running the program with 380 schools and 290 volunteers as well as for a statewide poster contest. As the state government continues to slash funding for tobacco prevention programs, our hope for state funding is slashed as well.
