  • Managing Substance Abuse Disorders in Primary Care: A Quality Improvement program will cover the prevalence of substance dependence and abuse, the mental health problems associated with substance-use disorders, and the primary care physicians role in alcohol-use disorders and drug addiction. The program will also focus on managing patients in the primary care setting who have an alcohol-use disorder or who are at-risk for alcohol dependence and abuse. Drug addiction and screening and treatment for drug use disorders will also be reviewed.   • Managing Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in the Family Care Setting: A Quality Improvement program will help participants facilitate planning for individualized patient support, coordinate COPD care in your office, encourage patients to become more involved in COPD prevention, incorporate guideline-based treatment, promote the use of community programs that support COPD patients and increase COPD awareness and education. Click here to view presentation.

  • Managing Childhood Asthma in Primary Care: A Quality Improvement Program This presentation will discuss the prevalence of diagnosed asthma and asthma symptoms in children and young adults, will list the guidelines for diagnosis of childhood asthma and help providers evaluate appropriate use of pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic therapies for acute and long-term therapy in pediatric asthma.      This presentation will discuss the epidemiology and etiology of depression, educate providers on how to screen for depression, and how to treat depression and evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.
